Pop Daddy's Halloween Countdown Day 14

 Favorite Horror game series. This came down to a few, the runners up were games that had horror/monster elements such as BioShock, DooM and Devil May Cry. (If I run out of ideas, I might do scariest moments from the games) but this one goes to the grandaddy, Castlevania. 


While not super scary per se, its got horror elements to spare. Once you fire up that original NES version, as Simon walks towards the gates of the castle and the music builds up, you can feel the tension. The game play starts along with the iconic track "Vampire Killer"(probably the piece of music most people associate with the music of the game alongside Bloody Tears. My favorite piece is Simon's theme from Super Castlevania IV) the game is retro side scrolling at it's best. As you fight through the games you face off against the Mummy, Frankenstein's monster, the Grim Reaper, Medusa, Golems, Hunchbacks, skeletons, bats, ghosts and eventually, Dracula himself. With the whip and different weapons, you can mix things up, part 2 was ahead of it's time with a RPG/open world element part 3 added the ability to switch characters. My personal fave is Super Castlevania IV. If you're able to, pick up a copy on the system of your choice and whip away!

Day 53: A little bit back, I reviewed my favorite Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode. This Sunday marks 30(32 this month, Oct, 2022) years since the first one titled "The Simpsons Halloween Special" (and the only one to take place in a treehouse!) Pop Daddy's Halloween Countdown Day 35

Day 35 (Posted October 5th, 2020): It's hard to believe that this month marks the 30th anniversary of The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror anthology episodes. (on 10/25, maybe I'll pick my 3 favorite independent segments) which means 3 years from now, there will be over 100 segments(2022: One year to go!). There are many good ones, but in my opinion, the best collection in my opinion is Treehouse of Horror V.  .      Still known as the Simpsons Halloween special  After an Outer Limits-esque intro, the first segment is called "The Shinning" it revolves around the Simpson family agreeing to watch Mr. Burns' lodge for the winter. After Burns cuts the cable and takes the beer, which causes Homer to slowly descend into madness. While it turns out Bart has psychic skills. Sound familiar? It's a direct spoof of The Shining and this one brings the laughs. Segment two: "Time and Punishment" begins with Homer breaking the toaste...

Pop Daddy's Halloween Countdown Day 27

Day 27(Posted on September 27, 2020): I told you that I had a little Halloween food shopping spree the other day, so here's today's food, Pumpkin Spice Twinkies.  So, these look like regular Twinkies, but once you take a bite, if you're not expecting it, that pumpkin spice taste hits you in the face. Now, when you unwrap these, you can smell the pumpkin spice. So, if you were hoping to trick a friend with these, unless they have a bad sense of smell, you're not tricking anyone. The sponge cake has the same consistency, the cream is a little fluffier(I can't remember how long it's been since I've had a Twinkie, so it might have always been this fluffy), but both the cake and the cream are loaded with pumpkin spice.  So, if you don't like Twinkies and/or don't like pumpkin spice, give these a pass, because they are loaded. But if you like both, these are a MUST BUY.
