Day 8: Scariest Movie Scene

While many scenes scare me, I don't like the "jump scares" I prefer the "something's not right" or "something's off" scares and this one might be my favorite. 

The original Halloween in my opinion is a horror "comfort movie"(I'll be doing a review later and I'll be sure to include that line again) and it also includes a scene, which I think is the scariest.(skip to 2:26 below for the scene)  After the opening credits and 15 years after Michael Meyers murdered his sister, Michael's Dr. Samuel Loomis and his assistant, Nurse Marion Chambers are on the way to pick Michael up. Dr. Loomis speaks about the evils of Michael on the way to the sanitarium. As they get there in the dark pouring rain, we change to their POV, we can start to make out white shapes through the night. As we finally see what they are, patients. 


A sense of unease comes over us as Marion says "they just let them wander around?" Over the next few seconds, Sam tries to contact the main building as Michael steals the car. While more scares are ahead, in my opinion, the biggest scare of the movie, is the wandering patients. (A close second for me would be Michael's face in the closet, later on in the movie)

This Sunday marks 30(32 this month, Oct, 2022) years since the first one titled "The Simpsons Halloween Special" (and the only one to take place in a treehouse!) Day 35 (Posted October 5th, 2020): It's hard to believe that this month marks the 30th anniversary of The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror anthology episodes. (on 10/25, maybe I'll pick my 3 favorite independent segments) which means 3 years from now, there will be over 100 segments(2022: One year to go!). There are many good ones, but in my opinion, the best collection in my opinion is Treehouse of Horror V.  .      Still known as the Simpsons Halloween special  After an Outer Limits-esque intro, the first segment is called "The Shinning" it revolves around the Simpson family agreeing to watch Mr. Burns' lodge for the winter. After Burns cuts the cable and takes the beer, which causes Homer to slowly descend into madness. While it turns out Bart has psychic skills. Sound familiar? It's a direct spoof of The Shining and this one brings the laughs. Segment two: "Time and Punishment" begins with Homer breaking the toaste...

Pop Daddy's Halloween Countdown Day 27

Day 27(Posted on September 27, 2020): I told you that I had a little Halloween food shopping spree the other day, so here's today's food, Pumpkin Spice Twinkies.  So, these look like regular Twinkies, but once you take a bite, if you're not expecting it, that pumpkin spice taste hits you in the face. Now, when you unwrap these, you can smell the pumpkin spice. So, if you were hoping to trick a friend with these, unless they have a bad sense of smell, you're not tricking anyone. The sponge cake has the same consistency, the cream is a little fluffier(I can't remember how long it's been since I've had a Twinkie, so it might have always been this fluffy), but both the cake and the cream are loaded with pumpkin spice.  So, if you don't like Twinkies and/or don't like pumpkin spice, give these a pass, because they are loaded. But if you like both, these are a MUST BUY.
