Pop Daddy's Halloween Countdown Day 31


Day 31(Posted on October 1st, 2020): While I do love me some scary movies, I do also like some not so scary ones, because they're more fun to watch and that's why I have tonight's pick of The Monster Squad. 


Monster Squad is about a boy named Sean who is a fan of all things scary, especially movies (the house has the perfect. View of a drive in which is showing Groundhogs Day 12, it's just the first film rereleased for the 11th time) and his mom picks up for him at a yard sale a copy of the diary of Van Helsing, too cool! But, someone else is looking to get this diary, a Mr. ALUCARD. And 12 year old Sean figures out that's Dracula backwards faster than 60 year old Dr. Brewster did in Son of Dracula. Dracula is real in this movie and he's getting the monsters ready to take over the world, he's got Frankenstein's monster, the Creature from the black lagoon, the mummy and the Wolf Man! (Played my Uncle Rico when he's a human). They're looking for an amulet and the diary is the key to using it but Sean has a crew of his own his buddies Patrick, Eugene, Horace (the Chunk), Phoebe and super badass Rudy (featured in the gif below). Are they enough to fight Dracula even after Frankenstein turns face? (Becoming the Sloth of this movie) this is one that has monsters, scares and laughs a plenty. This is one to definitely check out. (Don't quote me on this, but I think it's free on Hulu and Tubi)

Day 53: A little bit back, I reviewed my favorite Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode. This Sunday marks 30(32 this month, Oct, 2022) years since the first one titled "The Simpsons Halloween Special" (and the only one to take place in a treehouse!) Pop Daddy's Halloween Countdown Day 35

Day 35 (Posted October 5th, 2020): It's hard to believe that this month marks the 30th anniversary of The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror anthology episodes. (on 10/25, maybe I'll pick my 3 favorite independent segments) which means 3 years from now, there will be over 100 segments(2022: One year to go!). There are many good ones, but in my opinion, the best collection in my opinion is Treehouse of Horror V.  .      Still known as the Simpsons Halloween special  After an Outer Limits-esque intro, the first segment is called "The Shinning" it revolves around the Simpson family agreeing to watch Mr. Burns' lodge for the winter. After Burns cuts the cable and takes the beer, which causes Homer to slowly descend into madness. While it turns out Bart has psychic skills. Sound familiar? It's a direct spoof of The Shining and this one brings the laughs. Segment two: "Time and Punishment" begins with Homer breaking the toaste...

Pop Daddy's Halloween Countdown Day 27

Day 27(Posted on September 27, 2020): I told you that I had a little Halloween food shopping spree the other day, so here's today's food, Pumpkin Spice Twinkies.  So, these look like regular Twinkies, but once you take a bite, if you're not expecting it, that pumpkin spice taste hits you in the face. Now, when you unwrap these, you can smell the pumpkin spice. So, if you were hoping to trick a friend with these, unless they have a bad sense of smell, you're not tricking anyone. The sponge cake has the same consistency, the cream is a little fluffier(I can't remember how long it's been since I've had a Twinkie, so it might have always been this fluffy), but both the cake and the cream are loaded with pumpkin spice.  So, if you don't like Twinkies and/or don't like pumpkin spice, give these a pass, because they are loaded. But if you like both, these are a MUST BUY.
