Pop Daddy's Halloween Countdown Day 34

Day 34(Posted October 4th, 2020): I thought I'd keep it simple with a review from a film brought to us from two masters of horror: John Carpenter's Christine.

This film is about a boy named Arnie and a car named Christine. Arnie is bullied and throughout the movie he changes, as people around him, meet their end by the car, but the car can't really have a mind of it's own...can it? First things first, this movie is a slow burn, horror wise. The first hour or so is a high school drama and it's well done. The bully stuff is your standard Stephen King fare, leather jackets, switchblades and gangs. The romance is an interesting twist on the love triangle trope(the girl is jealous of the CAR and vice versa). This is one of my favorite Carpenter films as one of my favorite King adaptations. Plus, Carpenter's score is top notch here and is one of my favorites. But, as I said before, this is a slow burn, so it's not for everyone, if you want straight up in your face horror with blood, look elsewhere, otherwise, check this one out.

Stay Spooky!
