Pop Daddy's Halloween Countdown Day 37

Day 37(Posted October 7th, 2020): when it comes to music in horror films, there is a LOT to choose from, from the stressful violin strings of Psycho (and later Re-Animator), to the soft subtle piano keys of a Nightmare on Elm St, to pretty much anything from John Carpenter (Halloween, The Fog, Christine), there is plenty to choose from. While even non horror fans can recognize the iconic piano from Halloween or the chilling sound of Tubular Bells. My personal favorite is a bit different, the Phantasm theme.

I love the first and second Phantasm movies, and the score os a huge reason for that. The Carpenter-esque synth starts up slowly and builds up, slightly repeating as the suspense grows. The song and movie fit each other perfectly, as hearing it can conjure up images of the Tall Man walking with a purpose and silver spheres flying. The part 2 score includes this as well, but sounds a bit more intense, I like it. The Christine score also sounds like it borrowed a tiny bit from this. If you have a playlist with Halloween music and horror scores on it, do yourself a favor and add this one, it'll kick it up a notch!

Stay Spooky!
