Pop Daddy's Halloween Countdown Day 45


Day 45(Posted October 15, 2020): I ain't afraid of no ghost, but am I afraid of Dunkin' Donuts new Spicy GHOST Pepper donut? 


So, I just finished it up and I thought I'd write this up, while the experience was still fresh in my mind (unlike the donut) I went to the store after work to grab some things and I thought while I was out, I'd pick this up and bust two ghosts with one trap. So, I bring the donut home and while it's still in the paper sleeve, I give a smell, all I can really smell, is the donut itself, no spice or anything. 


So, I take my first bite into the airy donut (this is more of a glazed type donut than a cakey one) and my first question is answered. This is a SWEET donut not a savory one, so put away the ranch and get out the milk. There's a berry taste in here also, which I think is strawberry. That is what you taste the most. So, I take my first few bites anticipating the ghost pepper takeover. Now I've heard horror stories about this pepper, and I can feel the spiciness building up, so I finished it up and awaited my fate and just like that, came the aftertaste. It's like the roller coaster climbed up thay hill, just to get to the unloading platform. Also, maybe it's because DD opens at 5 and I got this at 3,but the donut tasted stale. The spiciness I did taste,  I would equate with "fast food spiciness" or like a mild wing sauce. If you're looking for a spicy challenge (like the one chip) pass on this guy, unless you can't handle spiciness, then go for it.

This Sunday marks 30(32 this month, Oct, 2022) years since the first one titled "The Simpsons Halloween Special" (and the only one to take place in a treehouse!) Pop Daddy's Halloween Countdown Day 35

Day 35 (Posted October 5th, 2020): It's hard to believe that this month marks the 30th anniversary of The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror anthology episodes. (on 10/25, maybe I'll pick my 3 favorite independent segments) which means 3 years from now, there will be over 100 segments(2022: One year to go!). There are many good ones, but in my opinion, the best collection in my opinion is Treehouse of Horror V.  .      Still known as the Simpsons Halloween special  After an Outer Limits-esque intro, the first segment is called "The Shinning" it revolves around the Simpson family agreeing to watch Mr. Burns' lodge for the winter. After Burns cuts the cable and takes the beer, which causes Homer to slowly descend into madness. While it turns out Bart has psychic skills. Sound familiar? It's a direct spoof of The Shining and this one brings the laughs. Segment two: "Time and Punishment" begins with Homer breaking the toaste...

Pop Daddy's Halloween Countdown Day 27

Day 27(Posted on September 27, 2020): I told you that I had a little Halloween food shopping spree the other day, so here's today's food, Pumpkin Spice Twinkies.  So, these look like regular Twinkies, but once you take a bite, if you're not expecting it, that pumpkin spice taste hits you in the face. Now, when you unwrap these, you can smell the pumpkin spice. So, if you were hoping to trick a friend with these, unless they have a bad sense of smell, you're not tricking anyone. The sponge cake has the same consistency, the cream is a little fluffier(I can't remember how long it's been since I've had a Twinkie, so it might have always been this fluffy), but both the cake and the cream are loaded with pumpkin spice.  So, if you don't like Twinkies and/or don't like pumpkin spice, give these a pass, because they are loaded. But if you like both, these are a MUST BUY.
