Pop Daddy's Halloween Countdown Day 48


Day 48: Here's a blast from the past that I watched all the time as a kid and still gives me nightmares: Killer Clowns from Outer Space! 


The basic plot is when a UFO that looks like a circus tent lands in a small town, the aliens inside look (and act) just like clowns. Armed with popcorn guns and a while variety of circus themed weapons to trap people in cotton candy cocoons and snack on them! It's up to College Student Mike, his girlfriend Debbie, her ex Cop Dave and the ice cream slinging Terenzi brothers to stop them. This was on HBO all the time when I was I kid, and it's one of the favorites of my Mrs. so, it's always in rotation at our house. There aren't any big names, except for John Vernon (the dean from Animal House)  and Christopher Titus (in a small role before he was famous) everyone does a great job. The clowns themselves are done by the Chiodo brothers who did Large Marge and the Trolls in Ernest Scared Stupid and they look amazingly scary. Day 53: A little bit back, I reviewed my favorite Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode. This Sunday marks 30(32 this month, Oct, 2022) years since the first one titled "The Simpsons Halloween Special" (and the only one to take place in a treehouse!) Pop Daddy's Halloween Countdown Day 35

Day 35 (Posted October 5th, 2020): It's hard to believe that this month marks the 30th anniversary of The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror anthology episodes. (on 10/25, maybe I'll pick my 3 favorite independent segments) which means 3 years from now, there will be over 100 segments(2022: One year to go!). There are many good ones, but in my opinion, the best collection in my opinion is Treehouse of Horror V.  .      Still known as the Simpsons Halloween special  After an Outer Limits-esque intro, the first segment is called "The Shinning" it revolves around the Simpson family agreeing to watch Mr. Burns' lodge for the winter. After Burns cuts the cable and takes the beer, which causes Homer to slowly descend into madness. While it turns out Bart has psychic skills. Sound familiar? It's a direct spoof of The Shining and this one brings the laughs. Segment two: "Time and Punishment" begins with Homer breaking the toaste...

Pop Daddy's Halloween Countdown Day 27

Day 27(Posted on September 27, 2020): I told you that I had a little Halloween food shopping spree the other day, so here's today's food, Pumpkin Spice Twinkies.  So, these look like regular Twinkies, but once you take a bite, if you're not expecting it, that pumpkin spice taste hits you in the face. Now, when you unwrap these, you can smell the pumpkin spice. So, if you were hoping to trick a friend with these, unless they have a bad sense of smell, you're not tricking anyone. The sponge cake has the same consistency, the cream is a little fluffier(I can't remember how long it's been since I've had a Twinkie, so it might have always been this fluffy), but both the cake and the cream are loaded with pumpkin spice.  So, if you don't like Twinkies and/or don't like pumpkin spice, give these a pass, because they are loaded. But if you like both, these are a MUST BUY.
