Pop Daddy's Halloween Countdown Day 53

Day 53: A little bit back, I reviewed my favorite Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode. This Sunday marks 30(32 this month, Oct, 2022) years since the first one titled "The Simpsons Halloween Special" (and the only one to take place in a treehouse!) So, I thought I'd share with you my 10 favorite segments in chronological order.

The Raven (The Simpsons Halloween Special) I remember missing most of the episode and this being the only segment I saw. James Earl Jones narrates a telling of Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven" with Homer. This one doesn't bring the laughs, it gets spooky and this was actually the first time I had heard The Raven.

The Monkey's Paw (Treehouse of Horror II) Like with the Raven, this was my first hearing of this tale, as the Simpsons take a vacation in the middle east, they bring home a Monkey's Paw, but each wish has dire consequences...(I use "the turkey's dry!" When I need to)

The Devil and Homer Simpson (Treehouse of horror IV) Homer sells his soul to the Devil for a donut and they hold trial to get Homer to keep his soul. Fun segment and Lionel Hutz just makes it better.

The Shinning (Treehouse of Horror V) A Shining parody where Homer goes crazy and tries to kill the family. Part of my favorite Treehouse of Horror.

Time and Punishment (Treehouse of Horror V) Homer breaks the toaster and upon fixing it, can travel through time. Fantastic segment with some good quotes.

Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace (Treehouse of Horror VI) After Willie is killed due to PTA budget cuts, he attacks the students in a place their parents can't protect them, their dreams. Solid segment, pretty scary and "Do not touch Willie" and "Lousy Smarch Weather" are quotes that I often use.

The Thing and I (Treehouse of Horror VII) when strange sound are coming out of the Simpsons, an investigation from Bart and Lisa reveal that Bart has an evil twin named Hugo, after Hugo escapes, the family gets the help of Dr. Hibbert to bring Hugo back.

The Homega Man (Treehouse of Horror VIII) After a nuclear bomb hits Springfield, Homer is the only man left alive...or is he?

Hell Toupee (Treehouse of Horror IX) After Snake is executed after smoking inside the Kwik-E-Mart his hair is given to a donor, Homer. Soon after the hair implant, the witnesses of Snake's crime start winding up dead, but Snake is gone...or is he? Some great Wiggum moments here.

Starship Poopers (Treehouse of Horror IX) when Maggie starts acting differently, doing such things as losing her legs and growing tentacles, it turns out Maggie's Birth father isn't Homer, but tentacled alien Kang! They decide to go on Jerry Springer to sort things out in an episode titled "My wife Knocked boots with space stud!"

Runner Up:

Clown without Pity (Treehouse of Horror III) When Homer forgets to get Bart a birthday present, he makes a quick run to House of Evil to buy a doll. But, the doll is cursed (that's bad) but, Homer gets a free frogurt(that's good), the frogurt is also cursed (that's bad), but he gets his choice of topping (that's good), the toppings contain potassium benzoate...(that's bad) another great story and like most of the early stories, this one is based off a twilight zone episode.

Bart Simpson's Dracula (Treehouse of Horror IV) When the Simpson family visits Mr. Burns' castle in PENNSYLVANIA Lisa and Bart discover Mr. Burns is a vampire. After he turns Bart into a vampire, its up to the family to go back to the castle to drive a stake through Mr. Burns heart. Includes the classic line "Kill my boss? Do I dare live out the American dream?"
