Pop Daddy's Halloween Countdown Day 58


Day 58: When it comes to Halloween, while there aren't as many specials as there is at Christmastime, I feel the Halloween ones in some cases pack a harder punch, case in point: It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown! 


When I was a kid, I remember I had a few Charlie Brown specials on a vhs tape. The Christmas one, Bon Voyage Charlie Brown and this. I loved the tape and would watch all three year round (Bon voyage isn't related to any holiday, but it feels more like a summer guy). 

                       "This one's a summer guy!"

The special deals with the Peanuts gang on Halloween, and their misadventures. But there's so much I remember, from picking the biggest pumpkin, to jumping in leaves, to bobbing for apples, all the rocks that Charlie got (why did people have those ready?). There is so much to this movie and this along with the Christmas and thanksgiving specials and they are all top notch (as opposed to the Garfield ones, the thanksgiving one is a B)  these are a great tradition to have every year and to share with your little ones. It's a must see.

Day 53: A little bit back, I reviewed my favorite Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode. This Sunday marks 30(32 this month, Oct, 2022) years since the first one titled "The Simpsons Halloween Special" (and the only one to take place in a treehouse!) So, I thought I'd share with you my 10 favorite segments in chronological order.  The Raven (The Simpsons Halloween Special) I remember missing most of the episode and this being the only segment I saw. Pop Daddy's Halloween Countdown Day 35

Day 35 (Posted October 5th, 2020): It's hard to believe that this month marks the 30th anniversary of The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror anthology episodes. (on 10/25, maybe I'll pick my 3 favorite independent segments) which means 3 years from now, there will be over 100 segments(2022: One year to go!). There are many good ones, but in my opinion, the best collection in my opinion is Treehouse of Horror V.  .      Still known as the Simpsons Halloween special  After an Outer Limits-esque intro, the first segment is called "The Shinning" it revolves around the Simpson family agreeing to watch Mr. Burns' lodge for the winter. After Burns cuts the cable and takes the beer, which causes Homer to slowly descend into madness. While it turns out Bart has psychic skills. Sound familiar? It's a direct spoof of The Shining and this one brings the laughs. Segment two: "Time and Punishment" begins with Homer breaking the toaste...

Pop Daddy's Favorite Music Videos: Part 1

"I'm scared about my future and I want to talk to you." Ok, so, chances are, if the music video looks like an old timey movie or tv show, you most likely will be seeing it here. This is one of my favorites and I should add that these videos are in no particular order. So, I love the old 1950's sci fi aesthetic with the alien planet, flying saucer and giant robot.
