Pop Daddy's Halloween Countdown Day 61


Day 61: For the final Halloween entry of the year, I will be looking at the original, classic often mentioned these past 2 months: Halloween. 


The plot of Halloween is simple when you take only this movie into account: in 1963, 6 year old Michael Myers kills his sister, 15 years later when he's being transferred from his psychiatric hospital, he breaks out and returns to his hometown to stalk high school students with his doctor in hot pursuit. That's pretty much it. No family stalking, no cults, no Tina. Just that. In my opinion, even though this isn't my favorite movie(not even my favorite Halloween movie) this is a perfect horror movie in every way. 


John Carpenter knocked it out of the park with this one, even though it wasn't the first slasher movie nor the first holiday horror movie, this blasted the doors open for years to come. Now of course there would be sequels, some great ones (Halloween 2) some Bad ones (Halloween 5) some horrid ones (Halloween 5) and other (Rob Zombie's Halloween) nothing compares to it and it's essential viewing for this time of year.

Day 53: A little bit back, I reviewed my favorite Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode. This Sunday marks 30(32 this month, Oct, 2022) years since the first one titled "The Simpsons Halloween Special" (and the only one to take place in a treehouse!) Pop Daddy's Halloween Countdown Day 35

Day 35 (Posted October 5th, 2020): It's hard to believe that this month marks the 30th anniversary of The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror anthology episodes. (on 10/25, maybe I'll pick my 3 favorite independent segments) which means 3 years from now, there will be over 100 segments(2022: One year to go!). There are many good ones, but in my opinion, the best collection in my opinion is Treehouse of Horror V.  .      Still known as the Simpsons Halloween special  After an Outer Limits-esque intro, the first segment is called "The Shinning" it revolves around the Simpson family agreeing to watch Mr. Burns' lodge for the winter. After Burns cuts the cable and takes the beer, which causes Homer to slowly descend into madness. While it turns out Bart has psychic skills. Sound familiar? It's a direct spoof of The Shining and this one brings the laughs. Segment two: "Time and Punishment" begins with Homer breaking the toaste...

Pop Daddy's Favorite Music Videos: Part 1

"I'm scared about my future and I want to talk to you." Ok, so, chances are, if the music video looks like an old timey movie or tv show, you most likely will be seeing it here. This is one of my favorites and I should add that these videos are in no particular order. So, I love the old 1950's sci fi aesthetic with the alien planet, flying saucer and giant robot.
